Multi Sport Athletes in College

Being a student athlete myself I feel that multi sport athletes at the college level should not happen. Being apart of one team I personally feel is enough. Sports are very demanding not only on your body but on your lifestyle. During the season of your sport you probably get one day a week off and that will be classed as your 'recovery' day, so when your season has finished you just want to relax and let your body get the time of that it deserves, but if you are a multi sport athlete this will not happen, surely this can not be good for your body?

  1. I agree with you completely. Although I am no longer a student athlete, I was for my first two years of college at Westminster (soccer too). I think one day a week of rest during the season is about accurate. Additionally, during the of season it is nice to get some time to rest, but they have you back in the swing of things during the spring anyways, so it would be very difficult to focus on another varsity sport on top of the one you are already a part of.

  2. It would be very hard to keep up with two sports at the college level. You would also have to keep up with your school work just to stay on the teams. Most sports at the college level are not just work in season there is preseason and postseason. You should put all your time and effort towards one sport instead of trying to balance two different sports.

  3. I agree with that but it is hard to let go of a game at this age that you love so much. I can only imagine how tough and time consuming it would be but I believe that the coaches assume that YOU make the choice to do it so they don't give room to breath most likely. Also depending on the sport and the season would could makes things easier or more difficult.

  4. I think that going year round is a good thing for some sports. As runners we have to stay in shape year round save a few weeks after two main seasons to take a rest. Its not bad you just have to really manage your time properly.
